December 9, 2005 - 5:42 am

Sophia

December 12, 2005 - 5:25 pm

AmyG - oh my gosh this is SO funny!!!!

December 21, 2005 - 9:48 am

MarilynH - ROTFL!! I saw this on MCC’s blog and my favorite part was this:

Remember this motto to live by:
“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO what a ride!”

totally makes me laugh!!! I think its’ the “woo hoo what a ride” part. LOL

Why bother?

Sara - Shannon…youmake me laugh everytime! I stumbled upon your blog a few days ago and love it! I also love your layouts! Thanks for making me know that I am not the only ambitious mom…who never quite gets it right!

December 2, 2005 - 3:55 pm

Jill P. - I was wondering what the hell you were thinking!!! Don’t feel bad, I attempted “break & bake” chocolate chip cookies today and burned them crispy. That should tell me to just be happy with a bag of chips ahoy! Just put the little rugrats to bed and pour yourself a glass of wine, or ten. You’ll forget all about it!!

December 2, 2005 - 5:19 pm

Hilary - I probably wouldn’t go with the wine idea, but I hear you, baking bread can ruin an otherwise lovely day.

December 2, 2005 - 8:24 pm

Marie - visiting from 2peas…Martha also has people running around-getting her ingredients and cleaning up after her. Ah to be Martha.

December 3, 2005 - 9:20 am

tifsmith - here’s a thought. i have a neighbor that bakes bread. all of their bread is home-baked. grinds her own wheat. perfect loaves. everytime. and i was feeling like a real slouch because our bread comes from sam’s club. (but hey, it is wheat bread) and then it dawned on me. she bakes bread. thats what she does. she does not however keep scrapbooks, or paint or a lot of the other things that i do. so just by being you, you are already above and beyond.

December 3, 2005 - 11:40 am

Jefra Linn - two words girl – bread machine.

I got mine after the stress of failed loaf after loaf got to me. Now we have soft, yummy smelling bread on demand with little or no effort. love it!

December 3, 2005 - 3:02 pm

Katrine - And now you know why Martha only had one child! LOL

December 4, 2005 - 4:41 am

Gretchen - I think we all have those moments. i make a lot of bread but I cheat… I use the breadmaker on the dough cycle and then let it rise and put it in the oven – the other way is just to freakin’ messy! lol!

December 5, 2005 - 7:06 am

Amy B–perumbula - ((hugs)) yeah, I never, ever make bread while all my kids are home. that’s a school day activity and I do a three loaf batch in my kitchen aid so it’s worth the effort. I’ve also started proofing the bread in my microwave so I go from pulling out the mixer to eating the first slice in an hour and a half. e-mail me if you want the details.

December 5, 2005 - 7:07 am

Amy B–perumbula - oh and I bake bread, but I do not keep a clean house ;) no martha here.

December 5, 2005 - 9:29 am

jill - shannon-
i love reading your blog. you are so real and i love that. i think we put too much pressure on our selves, comparing a lot of times. i have found the same thing with my kids. when i do too much i get frustrated with them and they are just being kids, wishing they had more of their mom’s attention. i don’t have a bread machine, but i think that sounds like a good idea. just because people can make home made bread doesn’t make them a better person. you’re awesome just the way you are! hang in there. maybe we will both get a bread machine for Christmas!!!

December 5, 2005 - 10:46 pm

Ashley - Shannon,
I have lived that exact moment. I can’t bake bread — or cookies, or cakes or pies or muffins — with my two little girls, either. Fortunately being a good and loving mama is not defined by the ability to bake bread. :) The nice thing about days like today… is tomorrow is a new day. :)

Ashley.

December 7, 2005 - 9:13 am

Erica - Get a bread machine! They ROCK :)

All the yummy smells and tastes without the huge mess :p

December 9, 2005 - 3:31 am

kellicrowe - kroger has bread
just fyi:)
you candor is endearing

December 1, 2005 - 4:20 pm

april - glad I’m not the only one who loves beautiful, cruddy days! ;)

my grandfather always made Turkey and Rice soup the day after Thanksgiving….what i wouldnt give for a bowl of that right now! I’ll just live vicariously through you, k?

December 1, 2005 - 5:16 pm

stacy benintendi - ooooooooh i can’t wait to try that it sound so good. thanks for senping your rain this way, we should get it tomorrow and i LOVE it.

December 1, 2005 - 6:36 pm

Erica - LOVE days like that too (and even now that I’m in oft-cruddy weathered MI…not just when I was in always-sunny California)

The things I want to do are usually limited to
1. stay in pajamas all day
2. cover up with a blanket
3. nap/read/eat unhealthily
4. thank the diaper manufacturers for making super absorbant diapers
:)

I’m not as ambitious as you.

December 1, 2005 - 7:23 pm

Michele - Too funny! My brother lives in San Diego and I told him I could never live there because the weather is always sunny and nice! Nothing like a good rain to get you in a comfy and cozy sort of mood. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

December 2, 2005 - 8:22 am

Hilary - Sounds like a DElightful day.
Conner puked last night.
Must be in the San Jose air…

December 2, 2005 - 8:34 am

pegmanrique - love those kind of days…nothing better than pj’s, soup & the smell of bread baking! makes me wish today was a cruddy day..lol!

December 2, 2005 - 8:40 am

Shelby - I love turkey noodle soup…yummy! It is raining here now too. I wish I were at home under the blankets instead of at work!

December 5, 2005 - 10:39 pm

Ashley - Your day sounds fantastically fabulous. I love miserable weather too — makes my house feel extra cozy and comfortable :)

Ashley.

December 7, 2005 - 3:48 pm

Jackie - Ooohhh Shannon, if you like nasty weather you would love it here right now- so freezing cold! I hate it! Don’t even want to leave the house. It is miserable! Thanks for the soup recipe- I’ll have to try it!
