Big day here at la casa de Montez.
It was the final day of swim lessons. We’ve been taking swim lessons for years. Every year, the final day, there is always jumping off the diving board. Matthew does it, no problem, has for years. But Shelby is always too scared. Refuses. Today, same thing. She would dive in from the side of the pool, but wouldn’t go near the diving board. Until Sophie, sweet little four year old Sophie, all decked out in her bright orange life vest and blonde wet ponytails and blue dolphin goggles and cute little four year old legs, walks up with her tiny steps and takes the plunge from the diving board. Shelby of course realizes that being nine years old and big sister to Sophie, she will be laughed at if she doesn’t do the same. And soon. So she did. Finally. Jumped off the diving board for the first time in her nine years of life. And loved it. And wanted to do it again and again.
Wish I’d taken a picture. Or a video or something. But writing it down will have to do. That was fun.
**edited to add: it just gets better. Throw in a ROCKIN piece of strawberry shortcake and Matthew finishing his first chapter book and Sophie singing her little version of that "you had a bad day" song and this day was pretty darn awesome. Yes folks, that’s all it takes to qualify as awesome around here.

today was our last day of swimming lessons too and my newly 5 year old, Zach jumped off the diving board into 13 foot deep pool!! I, who usually has 3 cameras with me at all times(phone, palm, camera) had nothing. He was so darn proud of himself! It’s sooo cool to sit back and watch these moments!
