While I’m on the topic of sins…

I did another bad thing the other day. Something I SWORE I would never, ever, ever do. Something that brings me shame. But at the same time, just like any good sin, brings me a bit of joy too.

I bought myself a pair of crocs.Crocs_2

I didn’t mean to. I really do hate these shoes. Talk about ugly! Aren’t they gardening shoes or something? Whatever it is, I have been passionately against the thought of wearing them.

And then Dave bought some. Oh… if you could’ve heard how I made fun of him for his simple little purchase so he would have something to wear when he took the dog outside to poop… I humiliated him for making such a stupid purchase. These shoes are horribly ugly, and most certainly not guy shoes… that was the gyst of my nagging.

And then… I wore them once, to take the dog out to poop. And then forgot to take them off and found myself still wearing them an hour later. They are a million sizes too big and still fun to wear? No…I can’t…it’s just… wrong…

And then… I found myself looking for the blasted shoes every time I had to take the dog outside. They are so soft, like walking on fluffy clouds lit up by golden sunshine.

Eventually, I told myself it wouldn’t be so bad if I got my own pair, just to take the dog out to poop. And then I swore I would never wear them outside of my yard. And wouldn’t you know it, I’ve worn them for the past two days straight. Please forgive me.

What color did you get? That’s funny that you mentioned gardening because I saw them at Osh and I’m still just a little confused. Sure they’re great for washing out but doesn’t dirt get inside them? Gross…sweaty dirty feet in plastic shoes…I don’t get it. Have you tried putting dirt in them? Can someone tell me before I go buy the cute floral ones at Osh?

    Shame on you! Crocs?

I suppose it doesn’t matter if you wear them, as long as you can stomach the scuzzy looks and rude comments dished out at the supermarket.

    Hold your head high Shannon.

Would you believe that Crocs were actually boating shoes intended for males to wear before the general (probably a bunch of nurses) population discovered them?

I think they’re ugly as sin, but sometimes fashion must take a backseat to comfort. And sometimes it must be the other way around. :)

Yeah, I don’t really like crocs, I just can’t picture plastic on feet being comfy. BUT, if they are comfy, who can argue with that, right?

I felt the same way. I bought a pair. Then I bought my son a pair. Then my b/f (The manly offroads). Then, my daughter got the mary janes with daisy jibbitz. Oh, and don’t forget the crocsbutter, to jazz them up when they get a little dull looking. My sister’s teasing is relentless…

No thanks to the crocs, maybe for the boys…maybe not. I thought they were for nurses at first. Shows how little I know.

Awesome. Thanks for secretly hating my shoes that I wore everyday at your house for a week. Now I feel like such a fashion retard….

I guess I am really backwards because I thought they were cute from the first time I saw them, but will probably never own them myself. No reason. I guess I am just more of a flip flop girl.

Apparently the guy who owns Crocs lives around here…and he placed an order recently through the Ford dealership for Mustangs in 5 different colors…(he likes his cars in as many colors as his shoes)…and I would say he’s a little well-off from his shoe-making venture…

Just bought myself a pair over the weekend. Black Mary Janes, to be exact. Comfort trumps fashion at my age (nearly 40), and I’m damn thankful for that.

And now I think I need a pair in red.

I am so glad you finally took the plunge. I love my crocs. They are coming out with some really cute styles and are still the most comfortable shoe. Kevin and my boys all have a pair because they don’t make your feet stink and you can throw them in the washer anytime you want.

    i love crocs.
    love, love them.
i don’t care what anyone thinks.
they are heavenly pillows of goodness.
so there, i’m a proud croc wearing momma.
and so help me they better never stop making them.
cause if hear even the slightest rumor, i’m going to go out and stock up like noah collecting animals for the ark.
(or elaine bennis collecting sponges :) )
    welcome to the club!
