Last Friday, Dave and I actually got out of the house and went on a date! I think our last date was the same thing… a concert. We found the coolest concert: the Hotel Cafe Tour. Not only was Ingrid Michaelson playing, but so were a bunch of other amazing artists.
They seemed like they were having the best time, a bunch of creative people hanging out, traveling around, and enjoying their craft together. No matter what your type of creativity, I think it’s so awesome to embrace that and create. So things like this are super fun for me- you can just feel the energy. I really loved William Fitzsimmons and Cary Brothers and Meiko, and of course, Ingrid. Pricilla Ahn wasn’t there, but we looked her up and she’s awesome too. There was some other girl there that was a guest for that show who gave me goosebumps, but I don’t remember her name. I’m bummed about that, because I wanted to make a big deal about her. Oh well. If someone in internet land knows who that was and can enlighten me, I’d sure ‘preciate it.
Oh! And the best part… this time we got dinner and a place to sit. I was so happy. I’m too old and tired to be standing for an entire concert anymore. Sad, but true. Once you hit thirty, your life is practically over… So to be sitting and enjoying the music during/after a delicious meal, it was heavenly.I found this cool website that lets me embed the music right here! I didn’t see all of these people, but it’s all good. So… because I love you, I’m going to treat you to some fun tunes. Enjoy!
I also want to give a shout out to Ellie who I met while standing in line for the concert. She said she was there because she found out about Ingrid on my blog after the last time we went! Cool, huh?

how wonderful that you were able to get away and have such a fun date! Some of my favorite artists as well.
Thanks for the shout-out! It was a pure pleasure to meet you; I actually got tongue tied while chatting with you. Kinda weird like a celeb.
Anyhow ~ Jesca Hoop is who you are talking about maybe or was it the other girl who just played her guitar?

Shannon, I saw the Hotel Cafe Tour in SLC just a few weeks ago!! It was pretty much my favorite concert ever. I haven’t been to very many concerts, but still…
I went with my two sisters and two of my cousins. We had a blast! We got to sit down, which was MUCH better than the Colbie Caillat concert a few months ago where we stood for three hours. I’m with you–I feel so old, but not too proud to admit that I prefer to sit!
Anyway, we saw Ingrid (awesomely talented, and hilarious to boot), Meiko, Cary Brothers, Jim Bianco, and Dan Wilson. I loved them all. Dan was a little nerdy at first and it took awhile for us all to warm up to him, then he starts explaining how he wrote a little song and the “whole world” heard it but didn’t get what it was about (having his first baby). I thought he was just flattering himself with that “whole world” business, until he started singing it: “Closing Time”. I guess he’s the lead singer for Semisonic (sp?). We all belted the chorus with him–”I know who I want to take me home…” It was so much fun.
Did Ingrid do her “round” that she just wrote? Can’t wait to hear that one on her next album.
Wish we could go to concerts together!
dates are wonderful! Your date sounds like it was amazing and super fun!! yay! I’m so glad you’re getting to go out together. wohoo!
Mike and I have started doing themed dating. we have a theme for each week (sports, theatre, something we’ve never done, etc…I know it sounds complicated but it’s really not. it just makes us think a little and be slightly more creative) and we trade who gets to plan the date every week. that way our dates don’t get to be the same old, same old. so…there’s some info you totally didn’t ask for! lol.
