Katie and Kevin’s Wedding | Bay Area Wedding Photography

Katie and Kevin got married. (in May!) They had such a fun, unique, personal wedding. It was small and intimate, with a vintage feel. You may notice a lot of my images have a vintage look to them for this wedding, I think it was just inspired by the feel of the day… classic, timeless, sentimental, beautiful.

Her dress was so cool. I loved all the ruffles and the shorter length. SO fun!

Cool flowers. Cooool hair.

She got ready at the Old Monterey Inn… the historic building was the perfect backdrop. As was the seaside park for the ceremony. Complete with an accordian player!

Katie’s dad was the officiant. I loved that.

The reception was held in a cool historic home that was small and intimate for dinner and socializing. The reception was fun and relaxed, just their closest friends and family enjoying each others’ company. Perfect.

July 31, 2009 - 10:51 am Andrea - WOW! What a gorgeous wedding! Neat details. Lovely.

July 31, 2009 - 12:35 pm jamie - super cute shannon! what fun pics!

July 31, 2009 - 2:38 pm Kaija Mortensen - i love her unique ring! i love the vertical layout over the horizontal one. i like the grandeur of seeing all of that tree!

August 2, 2009 - 3:06 am Kristen - Why did I just get a LUMP in my throat? I am not getting married! I wasn't there! Oh wait, maybe cause your photos are like visual poetry! (I remember distinctly asking you to please post some bad ones, not ones that make me all weepy! I am a blubbering mess over here. Thank you very much.) So I guess the next thing is to move to San Jose and stalk you! Just kidding. I would look so ridiculous with four kids hanging around me! No, I wouldn't stand out, not at all. But in all seriousness you have such an extraordinary eye, er... eyes. Love ALL your shots! What a happy (and lucky) couple! They will love their photos even 30 years from now.

August 2, 2009 - 9:23 am Stefani Meyer - YES! What Kristen said!

On our way home from the Gilroy Garlic Festival on Saturday, Dave made a new decree: Don’t pick your nose in the car unless you’re going to eat it.

When he blurted that out, it made me laugh so hard. Who says that? And he was serious. Parenthood.

Anyway… I promised I’d talk about the Hearst Castle. It was cool. We were just amazed at all of the beautiful art, the details, the fact that somebody actually lived in that house and had that life. We all talked about it for days afterwards. The kids loved it.

The fountain is made from statues from ancient Egypt. The art came from all over the world. Best museum ever! The indoor pool was empty for some repairs, but even so, it was breathtaking.

I took a ton of images, but that’s enough…  Good times.

July 28, 2009 - 6:44 am Kathi - Those are beautiful pictures!! Love the kid picture! Love happy kids!

July 28, 2009 - 10:25 am Kaija Mortensen - amazing! i love the kids photos and that castle (and yoru pictures of it) is stunning! add it to my list of bay area attractions i need to visit! where is it?

July 28, 2009 - 12:45 pm kent - Isn't that place amazing?? Matt was drooling over all the antiques in there especially in the banquet hall. The indoor pool was empty too when we were that but that was I think almost 4 years ago.

July 28, 2009 - 3:14 pm Hilary - Hey, we've never been there? Email me about it -- how much it was, etc, will you?

July 30, 2009 - 2:48 pm cathy - Brad and I went there on one of our stops on our honeymoon:) and that is when we also learned that CA produces a lot of garlic. We had no clue! Please remember that we are both born and raised in OH ....:)

July 30, 2009 - 11:02 pm Kristen - Shannon! I have fallen off the face of the earth but I made it back safely and the first thing I did wasn't kissing my children, but checking out your site! Oh. My. Heck. Girl!!! You freaking rock! I am so sad! Look at your beautiful children! They are all so grown up! But such beauties. Yes, even the boys. Will you STOP please taking such good pictures. Just for laughs (and to make the rest of us feel okay about our picture taking abilities) would you PLEASE throw in a really bad one once in a while? Humm? Please? I love your site. I wish you'd blog more. But I won't get whiny. :0)

August 2, 2009 - 9:26 am Stefani Meyer - I love Hearst Castle and that whole area down there! Someday I'll own a beach house near by. I love the picture of your kids. Franklin's gloves are AWESOME! That was you clogging up the freeway through Gilroy? It took my family 2 hours to drive from San Jose to Monterey! I heard the festival was great though! Did you eat the garlic ice-cream?

Baby Jack | San Jose Newborn Photography

I had just written a post about sweet baby Jack, but it got eaten by the interwebcyberspace-whatever-it- is that all this information goes! :) Out of time now, but I’ll just say… Fun session, adorable snuggly sleepy baby, proud parents. All good ingredients for a great newborn session!

July 23, 2009 - 7:25 pm Kaija Mortensen - you've captured that wonderful baby's eyes so well! I love that final shot, and the horizontal one with him all bundled up in that thin white blanket, and the color one where he is looking back out at the world with those take-it-all-in eyes! makes me want one so deeply... a son to call my own...

July 23, 2009 - 11:10 pm Stefani Meyer - You are the master!

July 24, 2009 - 1:14 pm Andrea - Don't show me these!! I don't need another one of those do I??? Beautiful pictures.

July 26, 2009 - 8:59 am Brenda Miles - I just love those two people! Those pictures are fantastic, as usual!

July 28, 2009 - 3:08 am Sherri Winstead - Oh what a fantastic newborn session with such beautiful lighting!

July 28, 2009 - 6:01 am maryann wise - hi shannon! Hey, I LOVE the pic of the daddy and baby! All the pics are great, but this one strikes a chord with me...beautiful work!

July 31, 2009 - 11:15 am Jen - Beautiful ... that last shot, with the eyes open, made me gasp.

Cute Family! | Bay Area Family Photography

Summer! How is yours going? Mine has been good. BUSY, but great. My awesome mom came out last week and helped me organize nearly my entire house. It was SO nice. So needed, too. I was drowning in to-do’s, the house was getting farther beyond my control, and the kids needed my attention as much as the house did. So mom came to the rescue! I’m feeling a ton better about life.

I know I promised Hearst Castle, but it’s going to have to wait a little bit. The blog looks like I never work, which is absolutely not true! So I’m going to catch up. I plan post a session every other day for as long as I can. (which could end up being just today,  ha ha)

So, anyway, I *love* this family. Shot mid-day on a sunny afternoon. We had lots of fun, I wanted to adopt these kids, but their parents really wanted to keep them…

blogk3blogk6

That shot of him just cracks me up. It’s the “cheese” face he gave me when they first showed up. And this next shot warms my heart. It was a total spontaneous moment during a family shot.
